Awhile back I made a draft template of how to exhibit my work at the final show in June. I have received so many mixed feeling about how I should do it and lots of different guidance on what would be best for my project imparticular.
At the last interm show I wasn’t happy with how my work looked on the board at all. I chose the wrong images that told a completely different story to what I was trying to tell. I chose the wrong images and hung it completely the wrong order. Anyway, I have different feedback since then, some saying I should really go for it, different sized images, walls transfers and my slide projector I’m using. Whereas others say, strip it back, a few framed images and the slide projector.
Since then I have created 2 plans, I made them both awhile back and have been pretty reluctant to make a decision. Today I have decided to go for plan B, I don’t want to really over crown my board, I want my images to have space around them and be more appreciated as individual images as well as a whole series.
I decided to go for Plan B as I think the sequencing of images work well with my book, It goes from Alans slides from before he met chan to there live at home, and then them happily riding off at the end. I am planning on having the images A2 and in frames. I am unsure on paper types at the minute but am going to the print buro today and tomorrow to look at samples and also look at the samples I have already ordered from them.
Its hard to tell from the images posted above but semi gloss has the best colour and finish to the paper, this is the paper I would have chosen if I wasn’t going to be framing my images.
Yesterday I had another shoot using my new portable studio service, A Brother and Sister shoot with 1 year old Theo and 3 year old Rosie were models for the day and we had a great time. Here a few previews:
I will post more from their session once I have given the finish album to the client.
In a previous blog post, I spoke about doing a day second shooting with photographer Amie Parsons. Today some of my past work has been credited on Amie Parsons Photography blog who I worked alongside last year, I have been Amies second shooter for many weddings now and we both became very comfortable working together and it was a great success. I have weddings for this year booked in to work with Amie also.

My sample portfolio wedding album came and I am so happy with it. The album is really nice and chunky and the pages are really thick meaning it will last forever. The quality of print is great and it has printed with everything exactly how I made it. The album also comes in its own bag and then in a protective box. The whole album looks very professional and it is just what I wanted. I ordered the leather cover as, well I like leather covers really but also I think it will be popular with couples too. Here are some pictures of the album, but they really don’t do it justice!
After a lot of shopping around, I chose sim imaging to use as my regular album supplier. Sim imaging are really great for allowing you to completely customise your products and make them completely unique, which I feel is so important when creating different wedding albums, as each wedding and each client is different.
I now am able to let couple choose exactly how they would like their album, not only that, it allows me to be creative too. Sim imaging has software that you can download on your computer which it essentially a completely blank canvas, allowing me to be as creative as I want to be.
However this will still be to what the client has chosen, although I will the one designing and making the album, sim imaging lets you customise every part of the album and also lets you order duplicate smaller albums for other family members.
Overall I am so happy with my sample album, I already have clients that have enquired about albums so I am looking for to showing it off and getting some orders in.
Today I had my first mobile studio service! I had a booking for a first birthday cake smash with Mirabelle. The shoot went really well and I am really happy with the images. By posting them on social media I now have another booking for my portable studio for the following Saturday!

I have been following Lisas work for awhile now on social media and have always seen her work as one I aspire towards. Both her studio & outdoor portraits are stunning and I love the quality in here images.
Lisa has recently got training to do newborn photography which is something I am interested in doing in the future. Her portfolio offers various different props, poses and backdrops which makes her portfolio look great as it shows she has alot of choice for the client to acheive the look/style of images they want.
Her outdoor portaits of childen and familes have a natural feel to them, in both the poses of the subject but also the colours and depth in her images. Her images are unique to her and I recongnise her work when I see it. Not only that Lisa is regulary undating her website and other social platforms which I feel is so imortant and makes a photographer business look so much more professional!
“My service is special, I provide styling, I bring in the elements of the outdoors, I use the natural gifts available from Mother Nature, flowers, leaves, twigs and berries can all be incorporated into your shoot inspired by the seasons. I also provide beautiful vintage style dresses for little girls who just love to dress up! We will, of course have a good chat about this before our shoot. My shoots are completed with love and dedicated to you and your children. Your session will be for you, about you and will match your personality.”
Another great thing about Lisas work is her website, it is so easy to use, everything is clear and easy to read and her images are displayed beautifully. Inparticular I really like what she has done with her pricing page and its the easiest and clearest Ive ever come across, the different packages are layed out in sperate boxes desplaying what is on offer of each package and her website even lets you book in with her directly through the website.
